I am thinking of making a luggage rack and a timber trunk for the back of my Fordor. Does any body have any photos of one they have made or bought. Thanks .
This may be too early for a Fordor but is one I made for my Touring.
I made the rack out of 1 x 1/8 flat bar and 1 x 1 x 1/8 angle.

That's a great job Rich! I especially like the off-set detail at the crossings--Providing nice level support area.
Where's your spare?
Rich, what kind of braces or support do you have besides the hinges? I think I see something, but can't make out any details.
In the first picture, what's the thing on the left with two square-head bolts showing?
Steve, This little link holds the rack in the Up position. I have a longer link that holds it in the Down position. I have to bolt and unbolt these. I tried a scissors link but it let the trunk bounce.
The square bolts held the tail light bracket. I had to design a new bracket for it.
Ken, good question about the spare. I don't carry one. Just spare tubes and a pump. Our trip to and from Glacier gave me some worry but no flats.

This show the relocated tail light. Also shown in the first photo are some bumpers I made out of red hose. They keep the luggage from rubbing the body.
I also should note that I hear a clank in the setup when I drive over a bump. The straight link doesn't like movement between the body and frame. Nothing looks like it is coming apart though.
Also the rack is 26 1/4 x 15
Richard that looks great! Although only having two suitcases suggests that you do not have a woman going on that particular trip.
The luggage ought to be under oil cloth in case of rain.
Seth, you have to travel with the right woman. We have traveled in our Speedster with two children for a week at a time. One suitcase and whatever you could carry on your lap. We stop at the laundromat a time or two. By the time we got the touring we were spoiled with two suitcases.
Good Idea Steve. We have gotten our leather suitcases wet several times.
Rich
Hahaha you are quite blessed then. Mine has always packed for weekend trips like we are permanently moving.
Thanks Rich that looks great. Was thinking of having mine permanently in the down position and possibly mounting the spare wheel underneath in the horizontal position.
Very nice job Rich. Authentically done the way it should be.
