I don't recall what driver's licenses used to look like, but here is a 1955 Arkansas Driver's License.
Anyone have examples of older ones? It was good for one year, printed on regular weight stationery, and cost $1.00
I'll bet a dollar was a lot of money back then
It still is to some of us.
My Dad always talked about driving in Northern Minnesota until he left for the military and never having a drivers license. Sometime after he got home from the war he went into the courthouse and got his license. It cost him $0.35.
my dad, born in 23, always told me when he was 15 he went to the drug store and got his license for 50 cents. he then went to the junk yard to buy a car. he really wanted a roadster of some sort but they had none in stock that day, so he bought a model t coupe and cut the roof off ! darn kids !
Jay has a 1925 and I have a 1919 in collections
Here is one from 1919.
