Electrical components have always been my weak point. My question is this..When running on magneto, is there a chance of burning out other 6 volt bulbs other than the headlights? I added some blinkers and tail/brake lights last summer and only drove it a few times after dark. Is it better to drive it on battery in these situations, or am i safe to drive it on mag?

If you are talking about the car in your profile and it has a generator on it and it is wired correctly then you are running the lights on the battery, The ignition switch does not have any effect on the lights. The mag is not connected to the lights on a 22 T.

Thanks Paul, its a 25, i was just a little confused about the difference of a/c vs d/c on the 6 volt bulbs i added.

John,

On a car originally wired for a starter and generator, the lights never see the AC magneto voltage, only DC battery/generator voltage. On cars that came with no starter and generator but had electric headlights, the headlights did indeed run off of the magneto. But they ran on magneto ONLY. Although the owner could install a battery to buzz the coils for starting, the ignition switch only switched the current going to the coils, not the headlights. So whether the car was running on battery or magneto, the headlights were on magneto either way. Again, this is for a non-starter car. For an electric start car, the lights ran on battery/generator only and never magneto.
