what is proper direction for the baffles to go into muffler---holes in baffles to front --back =staggered and or lined up with the little tail pipe on back of the muffler
Alternate them back, front, back.
Like Mike said, make the gas have to go the longest set of switchbacks possible with the combinations of baffles.

I meant to explain that the image is from a Canadian owners manuel. The Canadian mufflers differed to the U.S. version.
Some may not be aware that in 1921 Ford dropped the inner shell, and redesigned the exhaust pipe. The last 12" of the new style pipe is now the former inner shell. The new pipe has a bead around it to keep the front muffler end from moving forward. Johns illustration above shows this.
