Anybody here ever heard of those guys? Ray is from Colerain, NC, and Mills is from Owensboro, KY, according to their emails. Both answered my wanted ad for some fenders here in our Classifieds section. I suspect they're the same guy, because of some word usage errors which probably didn't come from someone who has English as his first language.
If you know of either of them, I'd appreciate hearing that, pro or con. Thanks.
Well, I'm not surprised that no one here has heard of these guys. Although folks with those names do exist in those cities, apparently they were picked out of a hat. I received a third email today, from "Rock Bush" in MN. Apparently it's bogus as well.
I will say that these latest scam attempts are more believable than ones I've gotten in the past, but I've seen enough of them to be able to recognize them. These guys are honing their techniques, so be careful.
I have been including my email address in my ads with no problem until now. I guess I'll need to start putting it in code, the way most others do.
Mike, use your cell phone# and it cuts out all the BS too.
They sound like good strong Nigerian surnames to me. I'd trust 'em.
I got an email today from "Rock Bush" offering me more Edison spark plugs and asking me to reply with my cell phone number. The email went straight to the spam folder.
I wonder what name he'll try next?
Mike: That is why I always put PM me in my ads. It is too much trouble for them to join and do that. Dan.
Dan -- That's a good idea. My email address is on my profile page, so I could just put a note in the ads to go there for the address.
One of the things which was a giveaway is that I listed my cell phone number in the ads, and the scammers asked me for my number. I sent it to one of the guys and asked him for his. He replied that he has trouble hearing, so he'd rather do business by email. (? ) Another was the incorrect grammar, as I mentioned. But they were not the kind of mistakes which would be made by an English-speaking person.
So... I could still use some '15 rear fenders, if any of you "real" guys has some.
Stay away from this James Mills. He is operating here in the USA. He picked up my money in Owensboro, KY the same day I wired it Western Union. I have turned him in to the anchorites and www.ic3.gov FBI internet fraud division. They should be able to catch him via his Google account: millsautospares@gmail.com and his IP address. He will get caught in due time.
