I had to replace the commutator rod. The ball swivel was worn out. The old one was bent forward to go through the hole in the timer (towards the radiator). On the other end, the swivel ended up pointing backwards to go through the steering column swivel, which worked.
The new piece (3534B) has both bends going in the same direction. So if the one end going through the timer is towards the radiator, the steering column end is going towards the radiator as well, away from the column swivel. What am i missing.?
Do you have pictures? What year car do you have? I made my timer rod because the early 2 piece rods are not available. Also, depending on which timer you have I would suggest bending the rod to insure the timer is set to 15.5 degrees ATDC with the lever fully up. The TW tool works very well.
