What is the thread size of the plug in the rear axle housing 1911 ?? Thank you
The Northern Colorado Model T Club has a thread size chart on their website. The oil plugs in both oil pan and rear axle are 3/4", 20 tpi for all years. 1909-12 had a slotted screw.
Here's the chart: http://clubs.hemmings.com/ncmtc/Technical/Bolts_nuts_threaded_items.pdf
Close, but not quite: It's 3/4 x 24. Same as the crankcase drain.
Thanks for the correction. I still think the bolt and thread chart is a great initiative by Joe Boyers and Robert Ducharme in the Northern Colorado Model T club and I think they would welcome corrections and additions of what is missing. Steve Jelf sent some corrections to them that was included in the document in 2013.
Some, not all of the 26/7 axles use a 1/2 NPT (pipe thread) plug the same as the spark plugs. The plug has a recessed square 3/8 inch to remove it.
I bought a tap off ebay. Handy to have, especially for the early T cup oil crankcases.
It is 24 TPI
