A farmer is at work in his barn.
From time to time he hears a group of cars go by.
Sometimes they stop at an old gas station by his place.
They tinker on their cars - then continue down the road.
Putt - putt - putt.
These folks are having fun !
He attends a Centennial Celebration nearby.
He buys a car - then another ....
He joins a club.
It is 2008.
The country is not having its' best year.
A small town is in distress - the downtown streets are not safe to walk at night - there is decay & decline.
But the Centennial Celebration gives a spark to a small community of tinder - of business owners & business to be owners.
Model T's are purchased for the first time by some of these owners.
Slowly - surely - the downtown area is revitalized.
A small museum erects a new building.
Local volunteers meet once a week to finish the building - then two - eventually five or six times ...
The museum opens its' doors - the downtown opens new businesses ...
Yesterday - I witnessed " putt - putt " moments.
A young Dad kneeling at the museum postcard rack with his young daughter & son - asking them gently which cards they found interesting - was my favorite.
And that farmer ?
Well - turns out he recommended me to haul a Model T Center Door to the museum.
And I met Barbara & Jay - that was my " putt - putt " moment.
I was hooked - line & sinker ....
Thru circumstance & chance - Richmond, IN has become the Home of the MTFCA.
If you have not been here - you need to come " Home ".
Very nice! Thank you Freighter Jim.
Both my TT's started out life on Minnesota potato farms.
See what kind of trouble these #@! farmers stir up ? !
