Driving a TT, one is often reminded that the alternative at the time was a team of horses,
and if one is familiar with that concept and the speeds attained, even the TT was a regular
"rocket" by comparison.
Looks like they were trying to keep it cool with the hood off and stowed away on the side. Lots of spare tires too, but the trailer looks like it might be on the wheels themselves.
Thanks. This picture reminds me of where my mother traded groceries -- next door there was a couple of old gentlemen who drove a early model Ford TT truck with a homemade 5th wheel trailer. They would haul 1950 model cars to the scrap yard with their TT truck. This was in the mid-60s. The truck ran well but the body was almost gone. They used one leg of one pair of jeans for front fenders. Now keep in mind they didn't use both legs of the pair of jeans. They unstitched the seam and stretched it from the front fender support down to the front running board support. Again, they used one leg of one pair of jeans, 1/2 the leg on each side. These guys were thrifty. The local newspaper did a story on them. I'll see if I can find the picture.
