Since I rolled over my leg about a month ago - I have not really had more than 36 hours of rest.

Yesterday I dropped off this 1970 Challenger 440 Survivor just outside of Albuquerque.

Right where I took this picture yesterday ..... :-)

And my E4OD tranny gave up the ghost ....

It is just about impossible to find an F350 crew cab dually PSD w/ a ZF 5 speed manual - my preferred towing vehicle.

But - this Ford 350 - like all my other F350 trucks I have owned - never let me down.

It took me from Moses Lake, WA last Saturday where I picked up the car
across I-90 east thru Idaho & Montana down I-15 thru Salt Lake City, UT to Spanish Fork, UT ...

Then across 6 to pick up I-70 west to 191 thru Moab, UT - then 491 to 64 to 550 driving thru beautiful isolated four corners area to pick up I-25 south into Albuquerque.

The drive south out of Farmington, NM is 10 plus miles of hill climb - my tranny never slipped or overheated.

Once again - my trusty F350 got the job done.

Now I get a week of rest in Albuquerque while a small one man shop rebuilds my tranny ... :-)

This picture may give some thought to some who posted on the lark trailer thread?? If your going to multi use your enclosed trailer the ramp door might not always be the best choice?? A ramp door is hard to use with a dock or a forklift! Are roll in cars your only use?? To quote one poster,[use your head]?? Bud.

Kenneth,

I always get rear cargo doors instead of a ramp door on my enclosed trailers ...

I also have cargo doors on the side too ....

I have to pay extra for rear cargo doors.

A ramp door wears out quickly with daily use.

I frequently load/unload on uneven & irregular surfaces like the dirt/gravel road pictured.

You can see the (4) piece commercial aluminum ramp set rated at 5000 pounds per axle (made in Wisconsin).

I also haul equipment - pallets - skids that are loaded by forklift in the rear - that would not be possible with a ramp door.

Looks like that big side door would be really handy in your line of work.

Mike,

I have always had side barn doors on my commercial car hauler trailers.

I went back & forth for several months with the manufacturer of my new trailer before it was built.

They build over 12,000 enclosed trailers a year.

They had never built an enclosed car hauler trailer with flush fit side cargo doors - they finally figured out how to do it.

I haul custom carts on a regular basis - the side cargo barn doors allow me to load & unload w/ my commercial ramps.

Here is a shot of my old trailer ..... :-)
