To complain about the favorite upholstery maker. I bought a upholstery kit for my 21 coupe, and as I installed it I was disappointed to see how sloppy it was made. The front corners on the seat cushion were not sewn, just overlapped and left a large open seam. A few other crudely made items, but the worst was the window lift straps, The edges are rough cut and fraying. Yes I have sent them a email and am waiting for a response.
Have patience Jim...
Yes, there are some disappointments in life...we're not perfect. Mistakes happen to the best of us. It may very well be that the maker will rectify the problem and then some. Maybe.
Hope & Patience are the operative words.
Good Luck!
Whats the favorite upholstery maker ? Post some pics too.
I suggest you give the manufacturer time to respond and fix the problem before their name gets soiled here. Just my humble opinion.
Noel
Yes, give them a chance to fix it before you drop the hammer.
I wont mention company name, even the best can screw up.
Jim I think I would call them. Some people wait days before they answer or look at an email. I had a issue with the upholstery from a major supplier on my 24 Coupe and I called them about it. Hopefully your supplier can easily be reached in a day or so.
The supplier I used promptly sent me what I needed and a little more.
As others have said use a little patience.
I agree that the pull strap should look better than that, but the open, overlap seam at the corner of the seat may be by design. The seemingly original upholstery on my '22 Centerdoor was like that. I found an old county fair leaflet from the '50s stuffed in it.
When I did my 21 coupe, the directions said to hand sew it with blind stitches. My wife sewed it without any issues.
I have the original seat covering and it would be no big deal to make it correctly. No more work or skill than what they did.
