I think he just wants to be able to see something at night. My 16 electric lights leave a lot to be desired. Those gas lamps put out a lot of light.

You loose one light bulb filament and it's real dark out there!

That Prest-O-Lite B tank gives him 26 hours and gas don't go out on a rough road.

Seems to have a speedometer too.
