Gary, Is a southpaw a left hander? If so, I would suggest she is a northpaw. It is customary to wear one's wristwatch on the non dominant hand to afford it more protection. This lady has taken this one step further by wearing the watch on the inside of her wrist. Her use of the left hand to gain more leverage may just be the more comfortable way to work, given her position.

Those are beautiful photos, probably professionally done as a promotion for the involvement of women in the wartime workforce.

Curious dates on those photos. The Royal Air Force came into being in January 1918. Prior to that there was the Royal Flying Corp and the Royal Naval Air Service. These were amalgamated into the RFC. The Womens Royal Air Force was founded in April of 1918. By then the war had little time to run.
