Here are some pics of the TT chassis from last week that was pulled from an outbuilding by a guy I know who scraps, pretty sure we saved it from going to the boneyard , but glad he knows we're into this sort of thing . Anyhow , motor turns freely and the magnets and flywheel all look good , starter is missing , fan is different from anything I've seen , and the steering wheel horn button is missing parts . Engine has two sets of serial numbers stamped overtop of each other so trying to figure out year , what are your thoughts ??

That looks like "Fly Weights" on the fan maybe for an after-market governor?

Travis, we need a few more pics of the engine. Post a clear pic of the engine numbers if you can .. A person should be able to tell which was stamped first by a close inspection of the numbers. Is it a one piece valve cover or two piece.? Also are there any bolt holes in the back of engine just below head. If so that would indicate 26-27. The fan is a governor fan used for power units. The horn button looks to be an APCO aftermarket button or maybe a Canadian version .?? Nice front plate distributor, looks like you did very well on the save.... :-)

Lots of possibilities here. The short running boards indicate an earlier truck, the metal firewall a later one, The fan is undoubtedly whatever could be found to replace the original which was somehow damaged. You could measure the rear chassis cross member. The short one (1 hole on each side) indicates an earlier truck, the longer one (2 holes each side) a later one. (I can't remember the exact year of the change but we could get it I'm sure.)

What do you plan to do with it? If you intend to get it running I wouldn't worry too much about pinpointing the year model. Just go with your best guess on the engine. There weren't that many YOM changes to TT's anyhow. :-)

The fan is original. It's the add-on piece in the center that is not.

Pics won't size to be better resolution , but , one piece valve cover , no holes for braces so not a 26/27 , didn't get around to checking rear crossmember , will do tomorrow.
