Thank you guys for all your help. I finally got discouraged enough and dropped the tank. When I removed the shut off valve I tapped it on the drive way and it was full of crap. Going to have the tank flushed out. Also I had mentioned it ran for about 10min once I put load on it, it popped and died out. The radiator was pouring water from the over flow tube.. any ideas of why that would?

I have since removed radiator to have flushed as well... since I have everything apart anything I should check? I noticed wires at distributor frayed.. going to buy new harness for that. I see there are 4 wires that go to distributor does it matter when i put new harness where those wires go back too? All wires seem to be same color...

Could have just been too full. They don't like being filled to the top. Mine like the level right at the baffle. Hopefully that is all it is. Running too lean will cause one to overheat. With your fuel problem, this is definitely a possibility. Not advancing the spark enough will make one overheat. And......a bad radiator will not cool properly and it will overheat. Hopefully that is not your problem, as they don't give those things away.

Leaky head gasket?... Look for bubbles in the upper tank when it is running.
