The shop that last cut my hardened valve seats in and stem bores does on longer. Having a time finding a shop to balance tranny parts. Anyone here know of a shop or does the work around North East (Topeka) Ks? Or does anyone have a metal lathe for sell, cheap?
I thought there use to be a list of people/shops listed on the forum who did work. Thank you

Tyrone -- Mike Bender in Tulsa can do the balance work on the tranny parts.

There is a list of Model T Parts Suppliers, Restoration Shops, and Machine Shops on the Forum Home page, or click here:

http://www.mtfca.com/suppliers/Suppliers.htm

There are a few more, such as Herm at Koehnke Machine Shop in Western Iowa.

Note to Herm - Why don't you get your shop listed here?

Keith

Tyrone, we have a shop down past Savannah that I'm pretty sure can handle whatever you need. If you don't find anything closer, let me know and I'll get you his info. Dave

Topeka is in the North East? What map are you using? Maybe that's why you can't find anyone. :-)

Ken, yes we just moved there. I wrote: North East (Topeka) "Ks". Sorry I did not spell Kansas out. Since you are from Texas (everything bigger), I'm guessing you did not notice because every word is capitalized there (bigger). :-)

Thank you all for your help.
Dave - I have one more place to check here. If that does not pan out I'll call.
Mike, Yes I should have known Mike Bender is a source. And Tulsa would make for a nice two weekend getaways.
Thank you Keith. I'm going there now.

I would love to learn to do things like that, but I don't know of anybody close who can teach me. I learned some basic machining operations in college, but some of those specialized operations are still a mystery to me.

Not in these parts but a Facebook friend. Has anyone had an engine rebuilt by J and M Machine in Southborough, MA? From the photos, it looks like they do nice work.

I stay full up all the time in my shop but always try to help anyone who calls. I poured 5 blocks today and caught up on caps for a while. I do my babbitt work when everybody else is off so I can concentrate on my work. That stuff is TOO hot to not be paying attention.

Rowes in Osage City, KS
http://www.rowesmachineshop.com/

and Pauls Rod & Bearing in KC, MO
http://www.paulsrodandbearing.net/

aren't too far away.
If they can't do what you need, they probably know who can.
