A simple question that came up, and one I should already know the answer to:
Did all Model Ts roll off the assembly line on wood spoke wheels? I know folks could get wire wheels as after market items at dealerships and other sources, but did Ford ever install them at the factory during production?
Wire wheels were optional in 1926 - 27 on some models, and standard on others.
This forum is great! Ask and get an answer in no time.
Thanks Royce and Steve!!!
Wire wheels were standard on Fordors from Oct. 29, 1926, and the Tudors and Coupes followed some months later, different dates for different assembly plants. http://www.mtfca.com/encyclo/doc27.htm
Open cars got wire wheels as an option - or a option package, like the Sports Touring and Sports Runabout. TT trucks never got wire wheels.
