Dragging it home on a stick where the rear wheel was lost. Carrying extra timbers to replace the worn out one.

It looks like they broke a axle, but the hair, just says "we were flying till ???? happened"

Donnie,

I suspect the rear axle broke and the rear wheel came off. It looks like they have rigged up a large limb to act as a skid so they can have the car towed. That could happen even if they were driving very conservatively.

The photo reminds me of the speedster you are working on. The photo or your car below is from your posting at: http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/506218/589889.html

And from that same thread -- the photo that inspired you to build your speedster:

Respectfully submitted,

Hap, yes it is very similar to mine. I think it may be more like the one in the ad I found. It has a "square corner to the seat back, like in the ad. Mine is rounded. I hope to have another speedster update soon. I have the wood completed in the trunk area, and all I have left to do is the upholstery tack strip in the seat area. Then the wood is done. :-)
