A few weeks ago our local club had a tour to visit a man who has photographic equipment to make tintype pictures. Here is a picture of Dolores and me. She says it makes her look 90 years old. Well that's a good thing. She won't need to do it over when she turns 90. We had to stand very still because it is a slow exposure and best not to smile. You will also notice that the picture is reversed. That is the way that camera takes a picture.

Great photo! I have always liked the look of tintypes.

Yep, a tintype is reversed because it's a direct positive, directly from the subject to the tin. Like a mirror image. There is no negative.

The photographic qualities are amazingly old looking. Lots of people try to make
old looking photos and they lack a "certain something" that this one captures just
like old time photos. Very cool. :-)

I looked at the picture before reading the post. I thought, "that old pic looks just like Norman Kling." Now I know why. :-)

I agree with Burger (can't believe I just said that :-) ) modern photos made to look old always seem to be easy to spot.

This one looks very authentic, with only a few minor clues (Ford script on radiator being the biggest one).
