Peter and Sally Kable, from Australia, stopped for the night in Fayetteville,Ar. They were in Tulsa the night before, and are heading to Branson, MO, today via Eureka Springs. They have had an eventful trip thus far. Russ Furstnow helped them get back on the road in Arizona, fixing them up with coils and a timer after their Tru-Fire conked out. In Colorado the car wasn't running right, and a local T guy helped figure out that their problem was the head and plugs that didn't work well in high altitudes. So with a new head and spark plugs, they were off again.

I took some pics of them and their car last evening, but someone had set my camera for a too-large image size and they won't post here. If someone wants to resize them, I'll email them to you.

After some 4th of July fireworks in Branson, they'll be headed for Springfield, then St. Louis, so you folks be on the lookout for them.

Mike, I'm waiting to hear from Peter. As I recall, they have friends just west of St Louis that they will be staying with.

You can e-mail me the pictures if you'd like. I'll resize them.

Now, that's nice!!! I'll bet I could break that brass water faucet off the side the first week I had it. I wonder how much weight those beds would hold??

Stan,

I don't think that those beds were meant for guys built like us. LOL. Check out the front seat backs. I could bend them flat in about 2 hard bumps.

Paul

Not a chance! With those skinny doors neither you nor I could ever get in to sit on them and bend the backs!

It occurs to me that if I ever did manage to get on one of those beds I'd want some fat girl on the other one or I'd tip the whole thing over on its side when I laid down for the night. At the very least I'd roll off the outside edge. As round as I am I roll pretty easily.

It also occurs to me that Walker wasn't the one demonstrating the bed, either. =) You on one bed, me on the other, Walker sleeping in the aisle on the floor and the springs would be squooshed flat in the morning.

Stan,

If you listen real hard you can hear me laughing all the way in Colorado. That gives a whole new meaning to "counter weight".

Paul

Totally incredulous Model T !! Thanks for the pics Mike and Dick. And Peter appears to have the correct steering wheel for Stan and I (read: Fat Man) I'm a firm believer in that triangular Slow Vehicle marker in this day and age of modern iron idiots "driving" with cell phones, IPods and beer coolers.

George: I am not "fat." Mike is "fat." Paul is "fat." You are "fat." I am "aneorexically challenged." I am in need of a "Compensating directional control device, fully adjustable, for accessibility." You need a "fat man steering wheel." Let's keep this politically correct!!

George, you going off to play Tuba for the 4th? I'll bet you are. I'm headed out to play at the WORLD OF CHAMPIONS RODEO in Red Lodge, Montana with the Honky Tonk Legend, Norrie Linderman. She is 78, the best honky tonk chick singer I have ever heard--actually the best of all time. She is working three shows this weekend 200 miles apart, we'll play 9 or 10 sets on Sunday, start at one and play till nine or later at a big old bar there. I'm only working one set tonight and tomorrow, she has another gig on Sunday. She was married to one of the Linderman Rodeo Stars in the 50's. Should be fun. Make some money for Richmond. Need that.

One thing I would like to know is......about what is the average speed for a setup like that?

Lawks-a-mercy, those Aussies are tough! Have you looked at those front seats, I don't think I could drive halfway across the US with those backrests.

Hi Everyone,
I'm in Eureka Springs at Mc Donalds, (only place I can get a connection here??)

I havn't tested the bed for max weight I just know it holds me Ok. The backs of the seats are spring steel so there is no problem with them bending. The kamper only bends a few inces when you lay on the open bed.

The doors are wider than you think about 24" which is the normal door width for closed cars.

We are heading for Springfield MO today.

Anyone there got any ideas on what 4th July celebrations will be on tomorrow in Springfield?

If someone can point us in the right direction it would be appreciated. Our cell phone No is
562 365 4655

Should be in Springfield by 5:00pm

Dick Lodge- still not sure what time we will get over to you will let you know when I have something definate

Hell you have to be quick here, missed the last couple of posts while writing

The seats are probably the most comfortable seats you could have in a T. The guy who designed this knew his stuff

Mike we get along at about 40 mph had to get up to 50 on the free way in Tulsa ( not much fun)

Love that Kampkar...........I hope we see more photes of their progress toward the Party....Since dead weight is an issue with a car that has 20 HP.....Short of leaving the fenders home or cuttin' the top off of my Depot Hack,,,,I decided to trim myself down a bit.....Starting @420 (yes lbs) I'm down to 286 lbs...and the "T" does a lot less mownin' and grownin'when I climb up on the runnin' board to get in....I too was on my way to beating anorexia !!!!! When I was puttin' up the hills where I live,it was like there were two people in the car not just "little ole' me".....I hope and pray you all have a safe day,,,,,and Happy 4th of July.........As for me I'm gonin' out right now and take a little ride in the "T"...........Carl aka Spanky

Got a phone call from Peter this afternoon. They were approaching St Louis from the south on Highway 30 and were about 20 minutes away from us. Anja and I drove down and met them on a K-Mart parking lot.

pic 1

They said they were planning to cross the Jefferson Barracks Bridge into Illinois, so we led them to the bridge on some back roads that kept them off the interstate until the very last minute, then took them back off as soon as they were on the Illinois side of the river. We followed them across the bridge with the emergency flashers on.

pic 2

We turned south on Illinois Highway 3 and stopped at a McDonalds, where we had coffee, tea, etc. We chatted for almost 2-1/2 hours, after which we went back outside and they demonstrated the camper.

pic 3

pic 4

We then sent them on their way south and said we'd see them in Richmond in about ten days. We had a very pleasant visit with them and look forward to seeing them again.

On the way home, we talked about how great it is to be part of a worldwide network of Model T people... :-)

Wow!! What a vehicle and to be able to cruise along at 40mph or better. I suspect that the Ford Model T has to be one of the most versatile vehicles ever made. When you list all of the body styles that Ford made, add all of the aftermarket bodies and then throw in the home made bodies, the list would be something, wouldn't it?

Barry, they were at about 42-43 crossing the bridge.
