Received a call from Tom Ackerman, coordinator of the car show, to put the word out that they are looking for Model T owners to exhibit their cars in their "Model T Only" sectioned area of the show grounds, in recognition of the 100th Anniversary.

Batsto State Forrest, Rt. 542, Batsto, NJ Sunday Oct. 19th. State owned restored village acres of protected area, will feature pre-WW2 vehicles, South Jersey Small engine club, arts & crafts, area service organizations, food, music, and N.J. cranberries. Bring your good walking shoes. Attendance is usually over 3 thousand people each year.

South-western New Jersey area of The Pine Barrens, accessable by major highways, Rt 9 & the Garden State Parkway from the east & Rt. 206 from the west.

I'm posting due to the short time period to alert all Model T members in the southern NJ/Philadelphia PA. area

Bob,

You have a link or a phone number??

I'm assuming the show will be at the Batso Wharton mansion, or the adjacent village area? The New Jersey state forest pine barrens are over 25% of the state land, almost 90% of the southeast portion of the state.

I'm not that far away...might be tempted to flivver on over....but would need to know exactly where, as believe me....the forest is huge with lots of places where the event may be held.

But...I've surprised the wife a few times when 4-wheeling in the forest...taking shortcuts and getting stuck up to the body panels of the 4-wheeler in the sands and taking some 4-5 hours to extracate the vehicle. Might be great to experience it in a T, hehe, but the missus will definately NOT be impressed because some of the forest is 'deliverance' and she was not happy the day the chassis of the 4-by got buried, I only had a short come-along and a short chunk of 6x6, we were two miles from nowhere for the 4-5 hours to dig out, and in the middle there was a deluge of a downpour! Get my drift?.

So, would need to know if it is at the Mansion area, or the Atsion area, etc....before even broaching the idea to the missus. She will want blacktop and tire contact all the way to get there and not trust me to 'shortcuts' along the way :-)

George:

Yes, the Festival is at the mansion area, accessible from Rt. 542. I'm driving the '26 Runabout from Forked River, along with a friend in a '13 Runabout from Beachwood/Pine Beach area.
See ya there !!

George: Entrance to car show area is west of the Park entrance. There will be an attendant at the gate to let you into the field. If you're coming in from the Hammonton area heading east on Rt. 542, you will see the gate on your left about 1/4 mile further is the Park entrance.

Bob,

Thanks for the update. If I'm in town that weekend, I'm really going to try and make it, the '15 can use a good run before hibernation....

The way I'd come is East on 30, then dogleg into Batsto from there at Hammonton. I'll check around and with some luck maybe be able to convince someone else to bring a T out.

George: I've lost my paperwork on the contact for the MTFCI club in So. Western New Jersey. Please spread the word about the show on the 19th.

Batsto Country Living Days event was well attended.

Model T attendance was less compared to previous years.

George Mills & family drove their 1915 Runabout from Cherry Hill, Paul Plunges drove his 1922 Coupe from Jackson, Bob Kunze had his newly restored 1927 Touring from Ocean Beach, & I drove my '26 Runabout from Forked River. Will Vanderberg & Russ Whitman contributed their support minus their T's.

Shows being what they are, subject to change, we were parked with the other per-war cars. We moved & made our own T-Section.

Time went fast & the crowds had a lot of the usual questions, weather was sunny & cool. Great day for October in New Jersey.

I did my yearly ritual of purchasing fresh cranberries & prepared cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving..... fresh berries go great on ice cream, but don't tell my wife.
