trying to now make the decision based on value and not my heart ! What would be a good range to pay for a 1924 closed cab TT a/ ruckstell and auxillary trans , runs and drives , very complete and very minimal rust. Not much to do but get in and drive! I'm very exited but want to make a educated decision . You guys have been great !! Thanks Jarret
5000.00-8500.00
If allowed, I would remove the rod inspection lower plate to check the condition of the basement - that being, looking for any shims left on rods or mains, what pistons are made from - cast iron or aluminum, if the owner doesn't know. Rebuilt engines and transmissions are not cheap and I would consider offer based on condition. Wheels and tires are another candidate for inspection as they don't give either of those away.
If it runs and drives, don't bother trying to phych out the bottom end of the engine. Not worth the time. From my viewpoint there is no sense in beating to death the engine condition. They are fine under a lot of aged conditions.
Everybody seems to worry this....not a deciding factor.
I have been watching ebay prices on T and TT trucks
real nice lettered parade quality low price 4200 high
8500 take a look a few from museums? are on ebay
Click my profile and see my 26. I gave $5500 for that one but without the oil taillight and cowl lights. THe truck is non-starter and unrestored. Steering was loose, rods loose (but plenty of shims), rear tires were rotten. Rear window panel was wood, no door glasses.
Now that I've got it like I want it, I won't sell it for twice what I gave.
Hey Thanks For the info. guys! I will check out your pics Ray. I will hopefully be building my own profile this next week with pics< after I get the TT !! Totally stoked Thanks Jarret
