I sold my 1924 Tudor on ebay to a buyer in New Jersey. If anyone live near Westhampton, I would gladly pay $ 100 for your expenses to teach this fellow how to start and properly drive the car.
He bought both a museum quality Model A and my T but says he knows nothing about fixing cars. This worries me, as most of my fun comes from getting it to run great.
If interested or any leads please let me know His address is
Thanks

David,
Westhampton is an area of NJ where Model T's seem to be far and few between. Definately not an active club anywhere near.
By default, I guess I'm about the closest of anyone at ~10 miles. I'd be happy to go over and show him the tricks and treats for nothing, but my problem is time. I work 12,000 miles away and am only home until after Christmas...dunno if that would work out for him. After that won't be home until summer.
The second best choice is an 85 year old guy who has been in the hospital for the last month so don't know if that would be a possibility, eventually.
Other than that, it would be quite a haul for any of the 'active' guys in the region.
Final choice is could have your buyer swap info with my son who would be about 20 miles from Westhampton. He works 6 days a week, has a family of his own, but he too has the bug....haha Cut his teeth on a 25 Fordor, then a '15, then a 26 Coupe...so he has seen all of the variations and knows the idiosyncrosies and personality traits.
So if no one else steps up here....get back to me.
George:
I'd be happy to help also. Westhampton is about an hour's ride....modern metal.

I could help Bob help this fellow. Besides, I need to meet more people!!!
Holy Mackeral...
Such good hearted T guys! Gee whiz...maybe the makings of a future south-central Jersey chapter!
Need to look at a map, but maybe 'the jersey devil' chapter with get togethers in Whitesbog, or Chatsworth out in the Pine Barrens? ? Be about the middle for all of us...haha
George, Wil, & others :
Maybe it's closer than you think . Received info from the main office to form new chapter. "Jersey Devil Chapter" sounds doable.
Will keep you posted.
Bob J.
According to Google Maps we are only a quick 18 miles from the new owner. We would be glad to help him for nothing and have both a Model T and a Model A.
John
Wow Thanks! I will let him know. What always worries me is that if a fellow can't start and drive a car and is not a mechanic he/she will be disenchanted and park the T in a garage and only drive his new Model A
I sent him the Ford Owners manual and suggested that BEFORE he drives, he jack up one back wheel (not on the differential) Block the front wheel and practice starting the engine - shifting and doing both NORMAL and EMErGENCY braking. I can see a fellow to take his family for a drive and not stopping - having an accident. Practice makes perfect
Would there be any in the Ocean-Monmouth-Burlington Counties of New Jersey interested in forming a new chapter ?? At last count, there are at least 25 T owners that our group could muster. Intrerested ??? Contact me by right click on my posted name.
Bob, I live exactly 1 mile from the Burlington County line... Can I still come?
I am in Ocean, but of course, you know this!
Why not ?? There are at least two interested T guys from Monmouth County.
Just in the planning stages........
Sounds like you guys should get Mr. Melendez involved, too....
This is another example of how the Internet has allowed so many folks to communicate and learn. This is a wonderful site
Don't worry Dick, he's on the list !!
Our statewide Arkansas Tin Lizzies club has been in existence for only 4 years, and we have 70 member couples and individuals from Arkansas, seven other states, New Zealand, and Germany. We have a tour every three months and really enjoy spending time with other T'ers and our cars. Having an active club group is a great thing, and help is always available when you need it. Some of our best friends are club members we didn't even know 4 years ago. In other words, Bob, go for it!
David, I live about 5 miles from Irick Rd. Get me a phone # and send it to my email. I'll contact him and try to educate him. Cheers
Ray, more help the better !! We have the capability to re-build & adjust properly Ignition coils if he needs.

David/Bob, I'm 5 minutes from Melendez house.Went past it last nite. David should make initial contact letting him know I would call him. Then I would go and see how he's doing? He may not want any help? Maybe turn key car? I'm retired I can go anytime. Ray
Ray don't know if you got my message yesterday
Ray (new owners ) number is RAY MELENDEZ MY CELLULAR IS 917 704-5372.
I am buying him his first years membership in this club and want him to drive the T properly
I am adjusting the bands as they loosened up after driving it for 2 weeks up to 40 mph
Everything is running well just futzing with it until he picks it up Thanks!
Dave, Didn't get any message yesterday ???? Is the phone # on the post your # or his #?? If I understand the post he hasn't picked up the T yet?? Where do you live? Just let me know when he has the T. My phone # is 609-894-2976. Cheers Ray
Dave,Just got off the phone with Ray Melendez. He has already broke something on the Model A ?? and can't get it started? Battery is dead?? Your in Indiana! He will call me tonite.I'll get him started on Regs & historic tags.As soon as he gets it home I'll go by and get him started.Cheers Ray
Great thanks Ray I just got the Indiana registration and Title today I am shipping the car with My historic valid plates on it so he can start driving it I am also keeping insurance on it
and sending insurance papers to him
I sent him owners manual and ford service manual
I HOPE we can get him very interested in the T and make a shade tree mechanic out of him That to me is the satisfaction knowing YOU got it to run smooth and YOU can fix it!!!
David, Not sure I would leave tags on it--liability???He can have it tagged in one day if he drives to Trenton DMV.Ins takes a wk.I'd rethink the tags. He's working 7 days a wk--won't leave much time for driving.East coast hustle and bustle is not laid back like Indiana! Good talking to you today. Cheers Ray
Ray: Please drop me a e-mail with your contact address.
