Model T Ford Forum: Forum 2008: 27 coupe trunk clip

I have the following clips at the bottom of the opening for the trunk lid of the 27 coupe. On the 26 roadster, these clips are back so the sides off the lid sit between the clips. On the coupe, as can be seen, the sides of the lid sit on the clips.

Now this car had been hacked up pretty bad so I do not know whether or not the clip should be bent back to keep the lid from moving back and forth or not. I added the triangular piece to hold the bummpers for the lid. I think the original owner used the clips to keep the trunk lid up.

Do I bend the clips back or leave them as is? If they are left as is, the bumpers that will be added to the triangles will not provide a shock absorber on the lid.

Your clip needs to be bent to rub on the side of the deck lid, or I should say for the side of the deck lid to rub on it. The triangle should have a lip on it to support the weight of the trunk lid.

Thank you. Will bend the triangle when I finish that part of the body work.
