I have found a 1917 Model T while on a business trip to Arizona. The owner told me that it was a Double T with a 2 speed rear end axle. With about a days work it will run.
The car was used as a school bus at the local school (no rear passengers compartment)
The rest of the car is in great shape, all paint has been weathered away and the only rust is in bottom of doors and cab. The frame is in great shape with only surface rust. The engine is out of a 1923 model T and will run! All 5 wood spoked wheels are in good sound shape. The car was driven to the back yard 8 years ago and was put on blocks under the axles. all engine parts and components are there and all body and chassie part are there also. The car is about 90%
complete
The only thing missing is the rear school bus compartment.
My question to anyone that will email me is this:
What is this year Model T worth in its present shape and what should it be the worth if the car is restored.
This is my chance to restore a piece of American history and possible get it to a car museum.
Hi Rob - It's hard to place a value on something like this with out pictures of it. Could you post some? From what you describe, does it have a car body on it now? TT's were 1 ton trucks, and didn't have car bodies unless someone built one for it, like a depot hack. Other pertinent facts to know are does the engine turn over? Are the tires old and probably no good? Is it complete with the fenders, head and taillights? Is the key switch and ampmeter present and not all rusted? How is the upholstery? Are the coils there and are they in good shape or deteriorated? This information is needed to make any kind of a value determination.
