Today I talked to one of the guys at Lang's about the TT rear spring bushing I returned. It seems they've been getting conflicting information about this part, #1087. The one I returned had an outside diameter of 1". It was too big to fit in my spring, which takes a 15/16" bushing. Apparently they're being told by some, like their bushing supplier, that 1" is correct, and by others, like me, that it should be 15/16". Is it possible that both are right, and that some TT rear springs took 15/16" and others took 1"?

I'm not an expert on the TT truck, but I just took a look at the parts book. It seems that there may be two different bushings used.

BUSHING (Rear spring)
1087
Apr 18 TT332 1918 1918-27 .20
May 25 TT172B 1918-25 .20
Oct 27 TT172B 1918-27 .15

BUSHING (Rear spring perch)
1100
Apr 18 TT172 1918 1918-27 .30
Jun 18 TT172 1918 .45
Apr 19 TT172 1918-19 .30
Dec 21 TT172 1918-21 .25
May 25 TT172AR 1918-25 .35
Oct 27 TT172AR 1918-27 .35

Notice that the perch bushing is factory number TT172. I believe that this is the 15/16" bushing.
It becomes an A version sometime between 1921 and 1925.

The original 1918 spring bushing is TT332, then sometime between 1918 and 1925 it changes to use TT172B (which is the perch bushing number).

REAR SPRING LEAF (#1)
1078
Apr 18 TT361 1918 1918-27 1.10
Nov 18 TT361 1918 1.20
Aug 20 TT334 1918-20 1.20
Jun 22 TT334 1918-22 1.00
Nov 23 TT334 1918-23 .90
Oct 27 TT334 1918-27 .90

The rear spring leaf #1 also changed sometime in this same time period. Perhaps the early springs used a 1" bushing and the later ones used the 15/16" bushing in both the spring and perch????

To verify this, someone is going to have to pull the drawings and change notices from the archives.

If your spring needs a 15/16" OD bushing, can't you just use a perch bushing instead of the spring bushing?
