I have just installed new bearings in a T generator and now have some end play in the armature.
Should I install the old oil slinger or is a small amount of end play ok?

Jim
I always reinstall the oil slinger on rebuilt generators. It helps keep oil out of the generator case even if sealed bearings are used.
I use two sealed bearings and block the brass oiler to prevent oil from being added. I leave out the felt washer/metal retainer and use fiber washers to shim the brush cap bearing hole to remove excessive armature end play.
Let me know if you need a few of the fibre washers and I can mail them to you.

Thank's Ron, I should be able to find something to use for the fiber spacer and I will reinstall the oil slinger.
