How does an ATWATER KENT LA distributor work? How do you time this distributor? Where do I get the correct gear that goes on the camshaft for this distributor? How do you all feel about these distributors?
I sent a PM with the contact info for the gear. It's timed pretty like some of the other distributor for the T. It has to have the gear teeth matched up to one of the contacts. Bring the engine up to TDC and just past. Any of the contacts on the cap can be No 1 which mean taking on and off a few times. Unless you got the rod that connects it to the spark lever you will have to make your own. You will need some rod that fits the holes but is not too springy. The LA swings instead of the top rotating. If you have a copy of "The Model T Ford Owner" the instructions are in there. Google "mtfca; atwater kent" there should be lots of info that has been posted in the past.
