My guess is it's a scam. When you start asking questions and for pictures, you usually don't hear back from them. At least that's been my experience.

Yes, likely a scam. Money gram and Instagram requests a dead giveaway. Also, if an unknown on the forum, buyer beware is my motto.

Tell him to give you a price for 75 sets. If he does, it's a scam.

Bob, Yes I think it is a scam. I was just getting ready to post something my-self. I had advertised for a Chicago transmission or parts in the classifieds. I received a e-mail from Kelly Starling asking about my speedster project and how did I do some of the work. (no mention of selling anything) Seemed just like a normal PM message. That was during Chickasha. When I got back from Chickasha I was getting around to answering my e-mails I got during the time I was away from home. But before I answered his question e-mail I got a reply to the add saying he had some of what I needed. Let him know what I wanted and we could work out the details. I sent him a e-mail saying I was interested but I would need photos and a phone number due to scams before we could do anything. Then he sent a e-mail Sunday saying "sorry for the delay,I was out having Easter fun with the family" "give me a call" and his phone number. So I called the number. I got an answer and it was garbled like a cell phone with poor reception (but I could hear clear voices in the background" Then I received a e-mail saying he had poor reception and send him a list of what I wanted and he would send me the prices. (but still no pictures) I was already thinking scam but the phone deal made it more obvious. This is a fairly complex scam he is trying, with multiple layers and tactics. He also seems to be more aware of what he is talking about than most of the scams in the past. So unless Kelly Starling gets on this Forum and explains himself very well, I would treat anything from him as a scam.... Donnie Brown ...

English doesn't seem to be his primary language.

Keep asking for photos. Tell him you need close-ups to make sure they're the right ones. Today's date on the photos wouldn't hurt either.

Another verification is to tell him you'll have a friend stop by and take the photos if the he can't. You'll need HIS address.

I'm always suspicious when they refer to "the part" or "the item" without mentioning what it is.

I just wonder if "warmalt" has cheaper prices than Walmart? Do I need to dress nice to go there or can I just go as I am like to Dollar General? :-)

There was a scammer in reference to tractor and hit and miss engine parts that worked similar to this in Pennsylvania I think, a while back. He is out of prison and I understand he is back at it again.

Kelly Starling recently emailed me saying he has the part(s) I'm looking for from my WTB ad in the MTFCA classified forum. I didn't reply as I thought it looked suspicious.

Yep, Walmart Money Gram. I see a lot of these scams every day while reading crime report at work. It is unbelievable how many people fall for these scams. I avoid a lot of this on Craig's List by stating "in person cash transactions only."

Don't " play " with anyone .....

If someone can contact you - it should be thru the PM messaging system which requires registration

Don't list an email address in your advertising.

Try to talk on the phone.

You can't have a Con without a Mark.

Tell him you're a Nigerian prince and he has inherited 100,000USD, he just needs to send you 2,500 for legal processing fees.

Today I was told by "Kelly Starling" that he had the Speedster gas tank that I indicated a need for. Yesterday he had the tall radiator that I wanted. New gas tank with brass filler neck (he sent a picture) for $200.00 including Fed Ex. The deal just didn't look or sound right. His wife works at Wal....etc. Glad I did a key word search and found this thread. Thanks!!!!

Speaking of Craigslist and "in cash only", we had some people in our area responding to Craigslist and getting robbed, the local police department set up a "safe place" to meet in the downtown area, at a building highly populated with police. It is something one could ask any city to do....
