My tow vehicle has a 7.3 diesel I thought it had blown a head gasket whenI got home and removed the head this is what I found
if you look closely you will see a big piece of piston missing that is because the aluminum is melted to the head..... not going any where soon
In a gas car, the engine light would have been flashing and the computer would shutdown the cylinder. Not sure what a diesel does. Probably a bad injector. ???
I am in Daytona Beach.
Leaving in the morning & heading north along the I-95 to Ohio.
Do you have an F350 ?
What year & model ?
Jim it is a '95 f250
That is too bad.
Are you going to rebuild the engine ?
No that cylinder is scored and at the bottom there is a crack going through to the water Jacket will be visiting local junk yards to see what I can find If nothing else there is a place in Texas that will sell me a re-man long block for about 3500 since I wont have a core it would have been 2995 with a good core.
Mind sharing the contact information for the place in Texas ?
this is their E-Bay ad

Thank you for the link.
I also have a 95' PSD - they are getting harder to find in good condition.
Used to build a lot of those, have them sleeved and good to go. Problem here anymore is finding a good automotive machine shop, most have gone the way of the Dodo bird. KGB
Keith: you are correct around here they don't want to re-sleeve any more they say it's too time consuming!
You guys are spot on.
Not much demand for replacement PSD engines.
Often it is not worth it $$$ to replace an engine when it goes.
