Interesting. I have a Dixcel gas station sign.
I showed it to my uncle. He said his dad had been a driver for that company and as far as he knew there were only a few of those stations around, maybe something like a dozen or so. My sign has the look of the gas pump toppers shown in the photo. It is about three foot round. So with that information I would have to say that this station was somewhere in the St. Louis area.
Jay do you have anymore info on the photo?
Judging from how neat and clean everything is (the only thing not "perfect" for the photo is the water hose) this must be opening day.
I wonder what they used for cooking oil?
As they say down south, pure ''D'' lard......lol
Great picture. Times were really different! I need the oil bottles. I am sure they are gone now. LOL Tim
When you were done getting gas, your oil checked, and a bite in the diner, they had dancing too !
An all-purpose establishment, if there ever was one !
pumps are g&b # 177. charley
"The Postman Always Rings Twice". You'll either get it or you won't.
Herb, in googling around, I got a hint that it might be in Woodlawn IL. The white pages for Woodlawn IL show a couple of Trouts.
Very nice pic that's really clear. Neat RC Cola sign on the corner of the bldg. I believe I have 2 or 3 RC bottles like that. The ones with the pyramids on them are the older series of RC bottles.
I saw a couple of Trouts in the stream out back
Great photo so I saved it for a screen saver when I change my screen around.
