There is a number on the very rear of the cylinder head. could it be a casting date? also, I have looked for a casting date on the block, but can't find it.
It is a casting date - it has a month and a day. No year.
This format was used from 1913 - 17 in the USA, not sure about Canada. You can generally tell the year from the other characteristics to some extent.
would there still be a casting number on the block? another thing, the car has an electric starter. those were introduced in 1919 right? if you look at my other post (help dating engine) there are more pictures of the serial number and the overall engine.
