Hello.
Having some problems and I feel that the starter gear may be jammed against the ring gear.Yesterday I was in vain trying to start her up. The starter turned but today , it did not.
How to solve?
Would it help to put the car in second and push it backwards?
Hopefully I won't have to take apart.
The Battery is new.

A "locked " starter is quite unusual for a T. Best test is put the car in high gear and rock the car. If the engine turns then your starter is not likely locked

Most T's don't have a "second " gear. Just low and high

Mike,
Just leave it in gear, emergency brake off and try to rock the car back and forth, this should disengage the starter drive. If you can crank the engine over with the hand crank, the starter isn't stuck.

If pulling the hand crank shows that the starter isn't stuck, but the starter isn't turning, begin with the basics. Check all connections. Especially at the battery, be sure both cables are on tight. Sometimes the problem with a tired or dead starter is simply a loose terminal.

Thank You Gentleman. I so appreciate the help from this nooby. How I want to drive this vehicle!!
I did use the hand-crank and the engine would turn.

Mike: Need to be sure your "new" battery is good. I have gotten a new 6 volt that was bad when I got it. Make the battery place test it. Dan

Are your battery cables large enough to handle the voltage difference? Do you have free neutral?

If your not in neutral it's too hard for the starter to spin the engine.

You need to measure battery voltage. Otherwise you know nothing about your battery.

Actually you should push the car forward in high to unlock. It usually works to just rock back and forth. Remember this, the starter gear spins away from the starter when the engine starts running. That would be forward. So push in high gear forward to unlock the starter.
