Is this really what these things go for now, or did somebody just lose his head?
It takes at least two bidders with deep pockets for a price to go way high as this one

I was told that to snipe an auction on ebay you should put in a high bid like this one and then 5 seconds or less submit. This is why I have never tried that.
If someone is wanting to complete a collection with a missing book, magazine, teacup or a wooden leg they will pay anything ... especially if the search has taken years. I'm one of those idiots with one of my many hobbies.
There were 6 different bidders. At one point the bid jumped about $1200.00. Apparently the material was worth what the bidders were willing to pay.
