I guess I have never known anything about Henry Ford and Fordlandia in Brazil. Looked it up and read about it but no pictures. Does anybody have any they could post? Tom Brokaw mentioned Ford in the Amazon in a story he was doing during the Olympics while ago and showed a bunch of logs on a truck, and I knew it wasn't hickory. He wanted a rubber tree plantation.
For a "quick and dirty," it discussed at the very beginning of Ken Burns' Henry Ford documentary. You can see it here on YouTube - it is literally the first 2.5 minutes at very beginning of the documentary.

I think it is discussed it again later in the documentary - basically how Ford Motor Co. pulled out of the area once they realized what they were doing was not going to be feasible in the long run.
IMPORTANT NOTE: some of the footage shown may or may not be actual footage of Fordlandia. Ken Burns "recycles" a lot of stock footage from various sources which causes a lot of confusion for the casual, uniformed viewer.

Thanks. I'll look at all those.
