Appears to be a small light that may be plugged into the camper along the roof rail. Just a guess.

Ken in Texas

Forget that, what the heck is that standing under the table? A dog with a cats head?

Dog with its head tilted to its right. It has a white strip running along the center of its head from its chest back over its head. Its nose is round and black in the white strip.

I think Ken is correct about the light, or maybe an antennae? Did they have radio back then?

They had radios if you had a cat's whisker.

If you zoom in on the post above the young mans head you will see that it is a period correct drop light and the cord runs over to the camper and is plugged in next to the canvas bump out.

Maybe its just for display, Andy Anderson used to park his camper at the Pate swap meet in Fort Worth with an AC outlet and and water faucet placed nearby. He then ran a hose and cord to the camper. Many folks thought he was the only one there with both water and electricity.
