How important, or not, to have good threads on the front axle for the kingpins to go into? Secondly, how many front and rear leaves should be on a 1912 towncar? The first spring with the loop for the shacle. then there is the next one with square ends and there are how many tapered leaves? Does anyone know of a manual for the towncar so I don't have to keep asking these elementary questions? Thank You. Frank
Pretty important to have good threads. Not that the kingpins will fall out, since the locknuts are there, but bad threads will also mean a sloppy, worn fit with the kingpin which will effect your steering geometry. It will also allow the kingpins to turn in the axle, which will soon wear out the upper hole, (if it isn't already), and wear out the kingpin itself. Just not a good idea.
