Hey all! This will be my first time to Hershey. I've heard guys say they love it but what is all the hubbub? What am I getting into? I'll be there Thursday and Friday.
Thanks!

Hello Allen - Here is a similar post from last year.

I hope that you enjoy your first time! Wear some comfortable walking shoes, a hat, and bring some cash!

Get there early Thursday, no later than 9 then plan on walking all day. Two days is very difficult to cover and Friday many folks are loading up.

The best deals are on Tuesday as guys unload and set up. Thursday is the second day of the swap meet.

I agree with every thing that has been posted above but I'll add one very important thing; WATCH THE WEATHER reports and plan accordingly. Some years it may be perfect. Other years, it was a muddy quagmire. Still other years, the temperature changed so fast, a thermometer couldn't change fast enough to keep up. You may need rubber boots, a slicker, or a warm coat.

One of the best buys I ever made at Hershey was this folding shopping cart for $10.

I added the handle extension to keep it from hitting my heels. If you're going to buy anything you can't fit in a backpack, something like this is a big plus. If you see something you might want, don't think you'll come back and get it later. Even if you make a note of where it was, it's likely to be gone. This meet is so huge you probably won't see all of it. It takes me three days to cover it, and most years at least one day is all or partially rained out. Be prepared for sticker shock. Admission is free, but parking is now $15 a day.

High heat is unlikely, but otherwise the weather can be anything from pleasant to miserable. It's wise to have an umbrella in the car and take it in with you if the forecast shows a chance of rain that day. I think some year I may get a space, and along with some parts to sell have some umbrellas priced at $10 to pay for it. Most years there will be some rain on at least one day of the meet, sometimes for a few minutes or an hour and sometimes all day. Here's the forecast as of right now. It can change a lot between now and next Wednesday.
