Tonight I installed a spare generator I and when I put oil in the engine it poured out of the back of the generator! I'm not aware of a seal- what happened?
How fast were you dumping it in? If it does not have the sealed front bearing it may be missing the felt seal so the oil is just going thru the bearing.
Pouring the oil too fast can flood the generator? I never thought of that.
What is a generator?
Put in a modern sealed bearing and replace the felt and washer, problem solved for a long time. KGB
According to Lang's the felt washer goes with the small bearing on the brush end of the generator. There doesn't appear to be a felt washer or seal at the driven end.
