Are you talking about the guy advertising live feeds to football games (if that's what they really are, I wouldn't dare to click on one of his links).

I'm assuming that their webmaster has been in Australia on their recent tour, hopefully the hacker will be banned soon.

I do not understand why someone would "hack" this website. What is the advantage?

That is the alphabet boy/girl. I have been in touch with Marilyn, the webmaster and she says the techs are working on it. Apparently this creatin has registered under a bunch of random letters as username.

I still get the hacked site, but since I never go there anyway, it's not a problem.

Looks like it has been killed for sure by the alphabet idiot.

They changed programs and software a while back didn't they?
Well,I never could get in over there to amount to anything anyway. The page is to heavy for dialup.

It would be nice if someone on the MTFCI staff would post whats going on with their site.

Maek---Ah ha! A fellow dial-upper! When this site gets "upgraded" we'll probably be back to the pre-internet days too!

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Mack Cole ---- Earth on Tuesday, October 04, 2016 - 02:36 pm:

dial up works great if sites don't fluff themselves up with unnecessary junk and programs didn't require so much info to operate.
Alot more reliable than the high speed some of my friends and neighbors have.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By David Dewey, N. California on Tuesday, October 04, 2016 - 03:50 pm:

Mack,
Unfortunately today's web designers seldom know how to code efficiently and most sites take up way too much bandwidth, like the MTFCI site.
I would upgrade, but there's nothing else in this canyon I live in--no cell, no cable, no wifi, and no satellite that's reliable (and they require a land line for upload anyways).
So, when this site upgrades, we'll probably be left behind, me especially as my connection speed is about 33K. YES, 33K!! Phone company lines out here are in terrible condition.

Jay,
We are working on the website, but it might take some time. The server is down. I have been in contact with our web designers again today and they are working on it. We will let everyone know when it is back up. Thanks for understanding.

Executive Director MTFCI

Dave is right...one of the developer tools is to check upload/download each page speed in seconds against the various bandwidth speeds available. Then to digitize differently or create links to get even the remaining 29.9's to have a good download in less than 30 seconds.

I don't think 99% of those who call themselves professional web page designers ever even look at that tool! Wow gee, animation and pan that is 6MB but really snazzy? FORGET those 29.9 and original bandwidth DSL flunkies...I'm going for image! Then the race begins as each time new bandwidth comes out such as 2x faster, they then get 2x as fancier but the old system guys get throttled again by 1/2.

Oh well, there ought to be a law :-)

George,
Thanks. I have two relatives working as web folks, one works for Amazon even! Both one generation below me, and they know better! So when I see their work, it make dealing with the clunky stuff even more frustrating! Of course, as Amazon they HAVE to have all the new bells and whistles. My Nephew-in-law just shakes his head when I ask him!
I have to face it; I am not in the marketing target group! When I get "surveys" and tell them my age, they thank me for may participation and hang up. Can't get No Respect!! :-)

When i bought our first model T in 1994 i joined the International Club. Now the only reason i'm still in it is because of the Model T Times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think that web site has been junk for several years so i don't even try to use it!! Bud.

I have been on and off the site for years but have never liked the black background that I see on the home page and the classifieds are hard to read when you open an ad. The forum page itself is great with no messing around with photo size. Hope they don't loose all the photos Jay has posted! He has been helping to keeping things going over there.

I was able to get on without any problem. Lets just blame it on 'The Russians'. They weren't competent and thorough with their hack.

Yep, the forum is working, but when I went to their home page I saw this:

The configuration file for VirtueMart is missing!

It should be here: /administrator/components/com_virtuemart/virtuemart.cfg.php
