Sitting down for dinner at the Tiger Cafe in Grosse Tete, Louisiana - just ordered Jambalaya for diner - I need a translator.

I have no idea what the other truckers are saying other than an occasional " and " & " uh " ......

Left my truck & entered a foreign land .... :-)

Keep you head down and eat. Don't pull out a smart phone if you have one. They don't know what it is and will probably shoot you for talkin' to yerself into a candy bar.

You need to listen to some old Justin Wilson records.

I guess this time of year Justin Wilson's comedy routine "Cajun's in a cemetery" would be good for the Halloween season. Good clean humor that we don't get much of anymore.

By the way, Justin Wilson had a cooking show on TV many years ago and I still make his Steak Étouffée from time to time.

Lots of good replies posted ...

Jambalaya was standard truck stop fare.

Sign on the door was worth the visit .... :-)

RGH Love that quote from the ofd party record of the 50's (that you could play most anywhere) about James Lewis. I thought I was the only one still using it!! Wish I still had the record.

Jim, If you are a coffee drinker, the coffee down there is usually served with "chicory". When they bring it to you in that "little bitty" cup that looks like a kids toy cup, you will understand why, after the first taste. That stuff will "stand the hair up on your toenails" Whole different world down there, and almost every animal or insect wants to kill you ...(as well as some of the natives) have fun and be safe Donnie Brown ...
