I have heard that the magneto can be re-charged in the vehicle using a compass. Is this true and if so how is the entire process done? Just in case I need to do it to my truck.
I think I found it in an earlier post thanks guys.
It saves you all the work of removing the engine/transmission and charging the magnets individually, but I've read that it gives you about 60% of the charge. That's enough for running, but probably not for starting on MAG. If you ever have to pull the engine for something else, it's a good idea to charge the magnets while you're at it.

I have done it twice over the last 30 years. It work very well.
You should read the post by famous Montana 500 winner and recent Vintage Ford contributor about how Tom Carnegie recharges his magnets in the car.
