This was the old Carnation (previously Libby's)creamery in Sheridan, MI. That road is now M-66. Tore down the building this summer.

FYI Carnation was bought out be Nestles and pretty much "put to bed". Nestles is a big conglomerate and its only concern once they acquire a company is cutting costs and squeezing the last penny out of it.

The original town name was Tolt. The Carnation Company made a deal with the city to change their name and Carnation would locate their company there. So the town of Carnation became the new name.

My great grandfather worked at the Carnation plant in Ferndale Wa. That was their malted milk factory. The malt came to the factory in box cars in big blocks. My mother as a child with her siblings went down to the factory after they unloaded the cars and took the broken off chunks and eat them.

The original Carnation farm in Carnation Washington was sold a few years back, and became one of Paul Newman's Hole in the wall camps for handicapped children. This was one of Paul's last public appearances.
