Hi Guy's
I thought you might like to see my latest restored hand cranked coil tester. Ford Part Number 18-Z-245 This unit is going back into the hands of a Model T enthusiast this summer.
I bought this coil tester from Pete Fausch and it was in bad shape. It had been dropped and the spark ring was broken off at the mounts and one piece missing. The crank handle arm and spark ring pointer were also broken off. The meter case was broken off at the mounts. The flywheel and field ring were also missing
I had a casting repair firm fix the meter case and had the meter internal movement cleaned, adjusted and calibrated. Bob Scherzer made me a new cast bronze spark ring, crank handle and pointer. Got a new magneto field from Wally Szumowski. I got a early flywheel with no ring gear from Don Lang and completely rebuilt it with recharged magnets and new clamp screws. New wood coil test slot and new wiring.
Hope you like the photo?

Ron
Nice piece. I sure wish I had one. I will be removing the magnets from my T in the next month or so, and I will let you know. At the time I send the magnets, should I also send the coils? Thanks for all the help!
Don
