A cracking tower at the White Eagle refinery in Augusta was the tallest structure in Kansas. By the early sixties there were 500 employees. But refining ended in the early nineties and demolition began. In 2005 the last tank was removed. The Kansas Oil Museum is fifteen miles away in El Dorado.
