Need some help figuring this one out. It has a late (dec) 1910 number, but according to the info in Roddas books, it looks like it was used in late 1911 to 1912. It's a heavy brass plate about .031 inches thick. It looks like it was varnished or lacquered a long time ago as it has that crazing affect on the finish. It's an etched plate like all the originals I've seen. But the number has me thrown off.

First of all the font is all wrong for an original. So the number is not one affixed by Ford to that plate.

Reproduction plates have been available since the early 1950's, so the apparent age is not a clue. I would guess it is a repro plate.

Royce, When you mention the font being wrong, are you referring to the etched brass letters or to the stamped numbers ?

Just interested to compare the plate on my car.

Dick
