I think the big building is the Triangle Shirt factory....
The Triangle Shirt Factory was the site of one of the worst disasters in NY City history (pre 9-11). It caught fire in March 1911 causing 146 fatalities. Google it for stories.
This is Toronto. I failed to mention that. I don't know exactly where. There are plenty of neighborhoods and factories like that but, I've never seen the two together in such dramatic contrast.
