Okay, there's T parts but what's there to eat? Is it true some of the old guys use worn cams they cannot sell as meat skewers?
Chickenshay?
There's a really good barbecue downtown for lunch. A buffet out by the hotels. Not world class dining but you will eat better than say Ethiopian refugee camps. I usually stay in Norman just because of my hotel points and the restaurant selection.
He means Chickensaw.
One of the places I go for chow is Temascal (Corner of Second Street & Choctaw Avenue). The Chinese buffet (New China, on West Grand) went belly up, so I'll be looking for another Chinese place.

Nothing better then Roys BBQ in chichasha!
Kim,
Are you going this year ?

For the best quick burger and fries, leave the swap, drive about 2 miles on the big highway that fronts the fairgrounds, into town.
J&W Grill
501 W Choctaw Ave
Chickasha, Oklahoma
Street parking limited, some parking behind, but if you are there a noon, the locals have the counter. Only a few seating spots as the place is small, and order only 1 fries if two of you go, as that stack of spuds is spectacular!
Stockyard in Ok City
A & E Grill on west grand
I attended the Chickasha swap meet about 20 years ago.
I'm still burping from the food I had at Jake's Rib.
I don't know how much its changed in two years (for better or for worse) but I did note from Steve Jelf's post that the Asian food buffet had closed.
The first time I went to Chickasha (many moons ago), there was a big variety of eatable, even tasty, food on the fairgrounds. Two years ago (last time that I went) you were out of luck on the fairgrounds unless you wanted coffee and a bagel for breakfast and a hot dog for lunch. At supper, you starved; went out for fast food and returned or went out for a sit down supper.
My suggestion is to come in a motor home with a large pantry and refrigerator, or stop by an army surplus and see if they have any M R E's for sale.
Kens Restaurant is a must go to place, its in the town of Amber. Its about 10 miles from Chickasha, only open Thursday-Sunday. Great ribs, steak and prime rib.
Jim, I probably wont be going this year. I need back surgery and hope to have it mid march so that means no Chickasha this year.
When I was there in 2010, the legendary Pizza Party provided by our well known vendors was a lifesaver. Other than that, all I could find were curly potatoes.
Then the food vendors providing limited choice had the pizza party shut down, as it was in competition with their inferior offering.
If you get to Jake's, go with a buddy and order one meal to share!!!
Allan from down under.
Ooops, I wrote Alla from down under. Can't have that. Might get on a watch list!
Kim:
I told you to stop with the kinky sex but you didn't listen. Make sure they put some zerk fittings along the straight parts so you can get greased up now and then so it won't hurt so much to walk.
John
Hello Kim:
Sorry to hear about the surgery....Best Wishes that this does the job and goes as smooth as possible. We much appreciated the Hotel hookup you graciously put our way year before last. Thanks again for your many years of super support.
Regards,
Scott
OH BUMMER !! I thought the Chinese Buffet was fairly decent for buffet. Steve's Mexican choice is top notch !!
Papa' s has good burgers. Interurban is new. There's a Italian restaurant tucked away in the main mall that's really good too. I am afraid Royce is spot on....Norman is the place for food
Tag along with Stan and you can't go wrong! You may find him at Jake's or out at Amber at Ken's.
Thanks for sharing your favorite spots with us Stan!
Hey Kim,
I also hope surgery goes well, I know you probably have explored other options & this is what is needed.
Let me know if I can lend a hand to help you out.
You are one of the truly good guys always there to help out others.
