Check out this link about Clark Gable and a Model T.
I wander where that car is today?
Very cool didn't know that. Great story. Tim
Dean Batchelor also tells a story of Mr. Gable and a Model T...
It seems he came into Bob Este's gas station about closing time one evening. While getting a fill up, he noticed Bob's T, and commented that they both liked black cars. Bob's T was set up for lakes racing, so he offered Mr. Gable a challenge. Gable was driving a Packard, and accepted thinking he was going to win.
He got his clock cleaned by the T.
Apparently, for weeks afterward, all Mr. Gable would talk about was wanting that T. So finally, Ms. Lombard was able to go down to the service station, where Bob informed her the car was not for sale. She asked if she could 'clone' it, and was told yes. So a fleet of guys came down and measured/photographed it to make a replica, but noone thought to buy the speed parts Bob had installed... So it wasn't really a success.
That's going from memory out of the book "The American Hot Rod" by Dean Batchelor.
That's a cool story!
