Does anyone know of a restorer that does good quality and dependable work on a "Through the windshield spotlite" and a Boyce Moto-Meter "JUMBO"(about 3" OD) ??? Would appreciate any help, thank you.
If the glass on your windshield is laminated, you should be able to do it yourself. I installed a Fyrac in 2011, and it turned out well. The link as to how I did it can be found below.
If you have a single paned windshield, best to take your windshield down to a glass shop and have them cut the hole. That way, if they break it, they will have to replace and install it for free. Cutting the hole is the hard part. once the hole is cut, the rest is easy.
I don't know about the 3" Boyce motometer, unless you just need it mounted on a radiator cap. If that is the case, all you need is a drill press to drill a centered hole of the correct size. Jim Patrick

If you have a plate glass windshield, well bottom line is, YOU SHOULD NOT have it in there anyway.
My wife would choke me if I blocked her view that much. She fusses about the GPS being in the way.
Hey Jim, Thank you for the pics, I can see I'm missing the light switch. What I need is (A) needs to be 12V and (B) needs to be re-wired and appears to be a piece of bakelite inside the tubing part which I'm sure would have to be replaced. I was hoping that someone would specialize in rebuilding this type of spotlite. As for the Boyce "Jumbo" Moto-Meter, well I'm not sure if it's era correct but I thought it would look sharp on my 26' "C" Cab. One screw is broke off and one screw head is larger than the rest. Should have a early Ford "The Universal Car" insignia for a face plate. Just need some help putting it together and finding a few parts. The "C" Cab Mark has the original windshield glass so I'll replace w/safety glass when the hole is cut. Would like to get the reflector re-silvered, it's such a "cool" looking spotlite. Just need all the parts and fitted before I or someone restore's it. Was there a large "Jumbo" Moto-Meter used in the "T" era, I can't recall ever seeing one ???
FWIW,The larger motometers are a bit heavy and have caused radiator neck damage on a Model t.
My reservation about using a jumbo Moto-Meter would be that it might be heavy enough to break loose the filler neck. I've read of that happening.
John. The switch is on the trigger of the spotlight. The power is provided by the 6V dash light. I simply removed the nickel plated dome and light bulb and plugged in the spotlight plug. Here is a picture of my dash without the spotlight plugged into the dash light. The spotlight can also be hardwired into the electrical system behind the dash, if your spotlight is not equipped with a single contact bayonet plug. Jim Patrick
If you have a single-pane windshield, you should take it to the glass shop and have a new one made from safety glass. The only exception to this would be if the car is for display only and is never driven.
Any sources for re-silver plating the reflector on the spotlight ??? and someone that would rebuild the Jumbo Moto-Meter as described ??? Thanks guys.
